MOL restructures logistics division in Japan

MOL of Japan is in the midst of restructuring its logistics office in Tokyo and plans to rename it the Logistics Business Division from next month.  (5/21/2003)

The company said the revamped division would strengthen its groupwide logistics network, and concentrate management resources on planning and developing new logistics services to meet changing customer needs quicker.

The restructured division is to consist of two groups. The strategic planning group will organise the planning, development, and promotion of the company's logistics business strategies. It will also control the design and development of network-type solution services.

The second section, the network management group, will be responsible for management control and development of the company's business, MOL said.

The new division will start operations in late June under Hiroyuki Sato, a senior managing director. Masahiro Tanabe will be the unit's general manager, and will share responsibility for a staff of 13, including personnel at overseas liaison offices in the US and Hong Kong.
