Communiqué de Deutsche Post World Net : "Expansion of activities in the UK mail market"
___________________________

"Deutsche Post Global Mail (UK) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Deutsche Post World Net Group, is taking over the British postal operator Speedmail International. Based in London, Speedmail has been operating successfully for many years, both in the UK mail market and in moving international business mail to and from the UK. The acquisition is in line with the Deutsche Post World Net Group strategy for expansion into other world markets.

In the business year 2002/2003, Speedmail International, which has some 110 staff, handled 12 million items, making it one of the few licence holders moving significant volume. The company has been operating under an interim postal licence that allowed it to deliver publication related mail items in 22 London postcodes and was granted a long term licence by Postcomm in January 2004 allowing, unlimited bulk mail delivery and the ability to offer a track and trace product for business to business mail.

As Europe’s biggest postal operator, Deutsche Post World Net has outstanding expertise across the entire mail value chain, including direct marketing and value-added services. The Group is already represented in the field of cross-border products around the world through its subsidiary, Deutsche Post Global Mail. This presence is being reinforced and further developed on an ongoing basis. The Group aims to be a leading player in the major domestic postal markets and the acquisition of Speedmail International, is a key step towards achieving this goal in the UK."
