Communiqué de Stinnes Logistics (DB)
“Last-Minute Freight for Rail Freight Savings
___________________________________
(Berlin, April 1, 2004) Effective immediately, Stinnes Freight Logistics will offer special terms for unused capacity in its individual wagon network. The new Last-Minute Freight Service is available for both existing and new customers requiring additional rail freight capacity. As of April 1, 2004, customers can visit the Stinnes website at www.stinnes.de/freightlogistics to retrieve information on Last-Minute Freight offers available at reduced prices. To this end, the system management of Freight Logistics - which optimizes freight transportation by individual wagon - has developed a set of instruments to analyze capacity utilization on individual wagon routes. It will thus be possible for the first time to set prices that reflect different levels of capacity utilization. "We are introducing this innovative service in order to motivate customers to make even more extensive use of rail transportation", emphasizes Dr. Jörg Hilker, marketing manager of Stinnes Freight Logistics.
The Last-Minute Freight Service can be booked up to one month in advance for the transportation of freight by individual wagon within Germany. Not only new customer shipments but also shipments of additional volumes on existing routes can qualify for these special terms. For the time being, the maximum period for contracts on special terms will be three months. Stinnes Freight Logistics expects that its innovative capacity management combined with flexible pricing will lead to much better capacity utilization of the trains in its individual wagon system. The new service will make rail transportation more attractive for transportation customers. For more information on our Last-Minute Freight Service, please visit our website at www.stinnes.de/freightlogistics.
With its four business segments - Schenker, Railion, Freight Logistics and Intermodal - Stinnes combines logistics competence with rail know-how in the fields of land transportation, air and sea freight, as well as global supply chain management. With a sales volume of eleven billion euros, a workforce of 65,000 employees and a network of approx. 1,100 locations in all the major economic regions, the company is one of the leading transportation and logistics service providers worldwide. Stinnes is a company of Deutsche Bahn AG.”
