D’après http://www.eyefortransport.com/ : Problèmes pour DHL en Chine ??
" A clash between DHL and China's postal service over the German group's entry into the domestic express delivery market has highlighted the tensions between foreign companies and the Chinese government over regulation of the country's parcel delivery market, reports the Financial Times. (6/3/2004)
Last month, the DHL-Sinotrans partnership announced the launch of a domestic express delivery service, the first operated by a foreign company in China. But the State Postal Bureau, which runs China Post, said it had never approved such a service.
The Financial Times points out that the reaction underlines one of the peculiarities of China's parcel delivery industry – that the regulator is also a competitor in the market.
In a statement, DHL said: “DHL-Sinotrans has followed the necessary regulatory processes, and this business is in full compliance with the current regulatory and lic...

The Link Between Supply Chain and Financial Performance
________________________________________________________
By Robert D'Avanzo, Hans von Lewinski, and Luk N. Van Wassenhove -- 11/1/2003
A team of Accenture, INSEAD, and Stanford University researchers has drawn a statistical correlation between companies' financial success and the depth and sophistication of their supply chains. Specifically, the supply chain leaders are showing market-capitalization growth rates significantly higher than the industry average growth rate. In addition to that powerful supply chain-financial performance link, the team identified the best practices, challenges, metrics, and success factors that accompany a bottom-line-focused supply chain transformation.

Banks derail Eurotunnel’s freight plan
_____________________________________
Eurotunnel’s banks have declined to back the company's plan to launch a European rail freight service. In February, Eurotunnel announced plans to build a ?7 million terminal at Folkestone, UK and haul freight trains to Basle in Switzerland. (5/26/2004)
Already owed ?6.4 billion, the company's banks reportedly refused to support the idea, only a month after French rebel directors ousted Eurotunnel’s board and took control of the company.
The refusal is seen as a signal that bankers Citigroup, MBIA and Credit Agricole, will take a hard line in future debt restructuring negotiations.
Last year, the beleaguered Eurotunnel posted a net loss of almost €1.9 billion (£1.25 billion). Investors have watched their investment drop 90% of its value since the shares were listed in 1987, as construction costs spiralled, revenues failed to meet forecasts, and debt reached €9 billion.

Kühne & Nagel/EWS deal
---------------------
Main port connectivity problems in the UK are driving non-traditional customers to intermodal rail. Kühne & Nagel has reached a 3-year agreement with EWS which will result in up to 200,000 container movements/year across the UK being switched from from road to rail.
Kühne & Nagel, probably the world’s biggest NVOCC, uses rail-road combined transport in many countries around the world, but this is its first recourse to rail in the British Isles. “In response to the ever increasing volumes and demands of our customers we see rail as an effective alternative to complement traditional road haulage concepts,” said Peter Ulber, CEO of Kühne & Nagel UK and Ireland..

Greater Toronto Airport Authority's (GTAA) is out of control, says IATA and ATAC
“Stakeholders deserve better than the Greater Toronto Airport Authority's (GTAA) appalling financial performance over the past year,” said Giovanni Bisignani, director general & CEO of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). “Airlines cannot continue to foot the bill for the airport's gross disregard of the industry-wide cost reduction. It is high time that the airport reins in costs and ends extravagance,” warned Bisignani. (5/6/2004)
GTAA reported a 34% increase in operating costs for 2003 over 2002 and a budget overrun of 18%. “The GTAA is not only out of touch with fundamental industry realities, it's performance indicates an inability to comprehend even the most basic of business principles: controlling costs,” said Cliff Mackay, president of the Air Transport Association of Canada (ATAC).
According to a joint statement issued by ATAC and IATA, the GTAA, contrar...
