DFDS Transport GmbH has announced its ninth acquisition in six months - this time it’s the forwarding activities of Josef Konz GmbH & Co KG (Konz) - for an undisclosed purchase price. (3/16/2005)
The take-over is effective 1st May 2005, and closing of the transaction is subject to the approval of the relevant authorities.
Konz offers transport and logistics solutions on the German market, based on the company's operations in Saarbrücken. In 2004, Konz generated turnover of €28 million. Like DFDS Transport GmbH, Konz is a member of IDS (the German domestic distribution network) and ELIX (the German/European distribution network).
DFDS Transport has a strategic desire to increase the group's presence in Germany, and the Konz acquisition is an important step in this direction. After the acquisition, DFDS Transport will generate an annual turnover of approximately €190 million in Germany.
It is the intention to integrate Konz into DFDS Transport's German operation, to generate positive synergies within both operations and administration.
